How To Pick Your Wedding Colors
Picking your wedding colors isn’t always as easy as picking your two favorite colors and creating a palette. In case you’re lost in the sea of endless combinations, check out these tips to help you find your perfect color scheme.
- Start with the season. Are you getting married in the Fall when the leaves turn? Or in the Spring with fresh greenery? Using florals in season are much more budget friendly and still just as stunning. While of course there are no rules to which colors you can use in what season, nature can usually guide you in the right direction.
- Then think about your venue. Does your venue have lots of natural light coming in? What color are the walls? What about the surroundings when you’re outside? Try to pick colors that naturally compliment what’s around you.
- Pick your vibe. For example, do you want a romantic, airy courtyard feel or a fun, festive feel? The courtyard ambiance may involve soft pinks, creams, and peaches while the festive reception may be more bold and bright. Your wedding colors tell your guests how the tone of the event will be. It’s also one of the first things they’ll notice when they walk in! (P.S. – I also love this color psychology board)
- Don’t be afraid to play. Once you have your wedding colors, play with them! Gone are the days of choosing two colors and making sure everything is one of the two colors. You could choose one color and incorporate 5 different shades of it. You could also choose to do an all neutral palette with one or two bright pops of color incorporated in the place cards and every other arrangement. White on white is also very on trend this year.
Once you have your wedding colors set, making decisions about invitations, florals, and other details will be much easier. Give yourself some time to really think about your palette and don’t be afraid to mix and match. Once you’ve really spent some time thinking about your colors, you’re more likely to stick with it!
