Cocktail Hour Must Haves
If you’re like me, one of my favorite parts about being a wedding guest is attending the cocktail hour. I look forward to casually socializing, sipping on a carefully crafted drink, and being able to try little bites of all the different food! Read below for the key ingredients to make your cocktail hour a success.

You can always opt for the standard bar, or you can have a little fun with it! This is your chance to look up a fun recipe online if you want to serve a signature drink. Bonus points if you can name it after yourself! If signature drinks aren’t really your “thing,” you can still garnish your drinks with whatever is in season to complete your look. Even if you decide not to serve alcohol, there are still SO many mocktail options from sparkling water to mixers to dainty garnishes like fresh mint swigs, lemon peels, and lavender.
This is an obvious one, huh? The key here is to serve small enough portions to hold your guests over before dinner. While this may change based on the number of guests,I usually recommend a mix of hot and cold passed hors d’oeuvres with at least one live station or display table. You can never go wrong with a fruit and cheese display if you’re not sure what your guests will like. For hot and cold, I love spring rolls, chilled soup shots, and mini falafel bites to name a few.
While high top bistro tables are usually a staple, make sure you also have some seating available. This is a must for your elderly guests or those with children. If you’ve always dreamed of having lounge furniture at your wedding, this would be the perfect time to set up areas for guests to socialize.
Your Personal Touch
Don’t be afraid to sprinkle little elements of yourself and your husband/wife to be throughout the day! You can really be creative with this one and can do anything – personalized cocktail napkins, yard games, your favorite cover band, or even drink stirrers. Anything goes and your guests will be sure to notice and adore those little details.
